FAIRANG KEEPS PABA BANTAM TITLE AND WBA FLY BOSS SORNPICHAI DECKS NON-TITLE GO

Jan. 28
RAT BURI, THAILND--FAIRANG 3K BATTERY, Thailand, made his first defense of his PABA (Pan Asian Boxing Association) bantam title, when he scored a quick KO of Indonesian FAUZI ARMES in 2. Fairang raised his unblemished mark to 6-0, 4 KOs.

WBA world flyweight kingpin SORNPICHAI SINGWANGCHA (previously fighting as Sornpichai Kratchingdaeng-Gym) engaged in a non-title bout and displayed a one-punch of Filipino ARCHIE VILLAMOR (not Ala Villamor) in 3. Sornpichai, 18-0, 15 KOs, had captured the WBA throne via a 8th round KO in a grueling fight last Sept. The champ sent him to the deck once in the first, and embalmed him with a wicked southpaw right hook in the fatal canto.

WBC BANTAM CHAMP VEERAPOL DECKS TUNE-UP BOUT

Jan. 18
BANGKOK-WBC world bantam champ VEERAPOL SAHAPROM (AKA Veerapol Nakornluang-Promotion) also appeared in a non-title bout, and stretched Filipino NATHAN BARCELONA unconscious in the 8th of a scheduled 10.

For Veerapol, it was a tune-up go prior to his mandatory defense against the top contender Adan Vargas in Thailand on Mar. 11.

Veerapol, now 25-1, 19 KOs, proved too strong for the Filipino victim, dropping him twice in the 7th and sending him to dreamland in the next session. The ref declared a KO without counting upon the loser's final visit to the deck with a thud.

WBC #4 ranked super-feather SIRIMONGKOL SINGMANASUK (AKA Sirimongkol Nakorntorn-Parkview), ex-WBC bantam boss who jumped up three divisions after his forfeiture of his title to Joichiro Tatsuyoshi in 1997, landed a solid straight right and scored a fine KO win over Filipino JONGJONG ABAO, GAB #5 lightie, in the third. Sirimongkol bettered his mark to 25-1, 10 KOs, but he has yet to regain his sharpness shown during his bantam reign.
