SEOUL, KOREA--WBC light flyweight champion Yosam Choi(left) kept his title as he dropped Thailand's Chart Kiatpetch twice before he finished him with a wicked body shot at 2:50 of the 5th round at Olympic Gymnastic Gymnasium.
It was a lopsided affair. Choi, making his first defense, sent the Thailander sprawling to the deck in the second round. The Korean pressed the action, and finally caught his opponent with a lethal shot to the midsection in the fatal 5th.
Choi will make his second defense against former WBC champ Saman Sorjaturong, whom Choi dethroned on an upset decision in Korea on October 17 of the previous year, in Thailand due to their agreement. Saman has been fighting actively and seems to have regained his previous form, so their rematch will be sensational and competive.
Referee was Malcolm Bulner of Australia. The judges were:@Tom Kaczmarek (US), Victor Cervantes (Mexico) and Bruce McTavish (New Zealand).
