TOKYO, JAPAN-Japan's top ranked super-light Kokichi Tanaka(right photo), 135, pounded
out a shutout decision over Filipino southpaw Benjie Duran, 133, over
10.
Scored: Kumazaki 100-94, Shimakawa 100-95 and Fukuchi 99-94, all for Tanaka, 16-5-1, 9 KOs. Duran dipped to 27-20-2, 18 KOs.
Tanaka was in command all the way with his aggressiveness, but Duran kept using his footwork to avert a KO defeat.
Japan's #9 ranked lightweight Hiroshi Mizushima, 128, scored a
come-from-behind KO over Hidetoshi Tanaka(left photo), 127 1/2, at 3:05 of the
second round in a supporting 8. Tanaka had him at bay with a flurry of
punches, but Mizushima furiously fought back and landed a wicked
southpaw left to sink his rival for the count. It's an encounter of
southpaws. Mizushima bettered his ledger to 17-4-4, 10 KOs. Tanaka
fell to 11-7, 6 KOs.
