Arambulet scaled in at 106 1/2 lbs., just one pound and a half over the limit at his first attempt, but didn’t pay any effort to reduce his weight, saying that he would not shed any more poundage despite two hours given by the rules. His opponent, WBA interim champ Joma Gamboa(right photo), Philippines, weighed in at 105.
If Gamboa wins in this bout, he will become the legitimate WBA 105-pound champ. If Arambulet wins, the title will be vacant with Gamboa entitled to participate in an elimination bout to decide the new champ due to his acceptance to fight the overweight ex-champ.
