KAWASHIMA DECKS TUNE-UP GO PRIOR TO HIS OPBF BANTAM CRACK

October 19, 2000

YOKOHAMA, JAPAN-Only once-beaten Japanese No.4 ranked super-fly Katsushige Kawashima, 116.75, had a tough time coping with sharp rallies of ex-national high school champ Arashi Yanagawa, 116.75, but landed a wicked right shot to the lanky opponent to stop him at 2:50 of the 7th canto in a scheduled 10.

Kawashima, 17-1, 12 KOs, thus confirmed his shot at the OPBF bantam throne against Filipino veteran Jess Maca in Tokyo on December 11 as he would substitute for ex-WBA world champ Keiji Yamaguchi who had suffered an upset 4th round KO defeat at the hand of unheralded Masayuki Arinaga on October 10.

JBC's #7 ranked super-fly Yanagawa, managed by ex-WBA junior fly champ Yoko Gushiken, dipped to 9-2-1, 3 KOs.

Promoter: Hideyuki Ohashifs Ohashi Promotions.
