BANGKOK, THAILAND-WBC bantam champ Veeraphol Nakornluang-Promotion kept his title as he opened a cut on the left eyebrow of Oscar Arciniega with a solid straight right and halted the bloodied Mexican at 1:55 of the 5th round.
Veeraphol, making his 5th defense, was apparently leading on points on all scoresheets when Korean referee David Chung saw Arciniega unfit to continue due to the ring physician’s advice. The loser’s gash required seven stitches.
This card was dedicated to his Majesty the King’s birthday.
