TOKYO, JAPAN-Unbeaten flyweight prospect Daisuke Naito, 111.75, ran his unbeaten mark to 18-0-1, 13 KOs when he swept all rounds before he dropped Filipino veteran Jun gTonodaih Carola, 111, with an overhand right and his follow-up combinations prompted the referee to intervene at 2:37 of the 5th round.
The Japanese #5 fly Naito displayed busier hands against the slower but hard-hitting Japan-based Filipino though sometimes taking Carolafs solid shots. Naito caught him with an overhand right, flooring him to the deck in the fatal 5th. Though Carola strongly protested against a stoppage like Diego Corrales beaten by Floyd Mayweather, the intervention was well-received by the crowd. Carolafs campaign here resulted in 5-8-1, 3 KOs.
Unranked puncher Hidenobu Matsunobu, 130, decked Takashi Nishihara, 129.5, with a same left hook to the side-belly in the first, 4th and 5th, finishing him at 1:08 of the 5th canto in a scheduled 10.
The winner bettered his ledger to 18-4-1, 14 KOs. The loser dipped to 7-10-1, 1 KO.
