FUNERAL SERVICE FOR SAHASOMBHOP HELD IN BANGKOK

BANGKOK, THAILAND-The great funeral service for the late promoter Sahasombhop Srisomvongse was conducted in a solem atomosphere with some 1,000 attendants including the WBC president Jose Sulaiman from Mexico. Also attending was the representative of the Thai Royal Family.

Sahasombhop, who had produced 11 WBC world champions and brought back the glory to the squared circle there, passed away on December 28 of the previous year. He was such an influential impresario in the Asian fistic map that boxing people from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea and Indonesia flew to attend this funeral service, including Akihiko Honda of Japan.

On the night of the ceremony it was announced that Mr. Kovid Bhakdibhumi, formerly the police general, would succeed Sahasombhop as the president of the Asian Boxing Council (ABC) that covers the boxing activities of South East Asia.
