OSAKA, JAPAN-Unbeaten ex-amateur star Nobuhiro Ishida, 153.25, impressively captured the OPBF super-welter title as he outjabbed WBC #19 ranked defending champ Kookyul Song, 154, Korea, to be awarded a majority technical decision at 2:11 of the 11th round.
Ishida sustained such a nasty gash over the right optic caused by an accidental butt that Brad Vocale, Australian referee, declared a stoppage.
Scored: Brad Vocale (Australia) and judge Ichiro Uenaka (Japan) 98-93 and 98-95 respectively, both for Ishida (6-0, 2 KOs), and Unmyung Bae (Korea) 95-95. The 33-year-old ex-champ Song, 21-3-1, 16 KOs, admitted his defeat.
Kenji Go, a stablemate of Ishida, 146 3/4, was also a victor by a technical decision over OPBF #9 ranked welter Hyunjeung Lee, 147, at 1:23 of the 6th canto in a scheduled 8.
Go, 9-3-1, 7 KOs, scored an upset victory over the more experienced Korean, 18-5-2, 14 KOs.
