WBC #10 OPBF 140-POUND CHAMP SATAKE STOPS KUWATA IN 5 (NON-TITLE)

OSAKA, JAPAN-Upcoming lefty speedster Masakazu Satake (13-2-1, 7 KOs), WBC #10 ranked OPBF super-light champ, 141.25, engaged in a non-title affair and battered ex-national champ Hiromu Kuwata (25-8-3, 17 KOs), 142, so furiously as to prompt the refereefs intervention at 2:00 of the 5th round.

Satake was supposed to appear in Don Kingfs card in China last August, but it was unfortunately postponed until November. Kinya Yoshida, the lefty champfs manager, wishes to make Satake fight a mandatory defense in his next bout, whether in China or in Japan. Satake displayed a rapid-fire combination to badly stagger the veteran prior to the stoppage.

Scored: 99-91, 99-94 and 98-93, all for Ohigashi.

Unbeaten WBC #13 bantam Akihiro Kanai, 123, ran his unblemished mark to 15-0, 12 KOs, as he dismantled Thailander Poh Ratana Eminent, 120.75, at 1:15 of the 4th session.

Satoru Kawahara (10-4, 3 KOs), 121.75, decisioned Hideki Takayama (13-6-3, 4 KOs), 120.75, over 10.
