CHIKUJO, JAPAN-Unbeaten super-fly power puncher Daisuke Maruyama, 116.75, broke the previous Japanese record and scored 8 consecutive first-round knockouts since his pro debut by dismantling Thailander Daojarasnoi Pitak, 115, at 0:30 of the opening canto.
Though unranked by the Japanese Commission, Maruyama, a rough-and-tumble early starter, made a trick with a vicious right to the button of the Thai loser who dropped to 13-11, 6 KOs.
The previous record was registered by ex-Japanese feather champ Eugenio gYujih Gomez, a Puerto Rican residing in Tokyo, but Maruyama scored all 8 wins within the first session since his pro debut.
