WBC #5 SUICO DEMOLISHES LONGAKIT TO RETAIN PHILIPPINE SUPER-FEATHER TITLE

December 22, 2001

CEBU, PHILIPPINES-WBC #5 ranked Filipino sensation Randy Suico, 129.5, ran his unblemished mark to 16-0, 14 KOs as he swarmed over top ranked Jun Longakit, 129.5, from the start, dropping him twice and prone at 1:42 of the opening canto to retain his Philippine 130-pound title in Cebu, Philippines.

Suico engaged in 5 bouts this year, collecting as many KO victims. Suico, 22, is the OPBF leading available contender, so his next bout will be a crack at the OPBF 130-pound title against WBC #4 ranked compatriot Tiger Ari, a 34-year-old veteran southpaw. The OPBF has already ordered Ari to accept Suicofs mandatory challenge, so Ari will not be allowed to defend his regional belt against anyone but the upcoming KO artist.

Undercard:

Unbeaten WBC #17 minimum Rodel Mayol (9-0, 8 KOs), 108, showed his tremendous power punching as a small man in flooring Billy Payla, 108, three times, each by a single shot, en route to an automatic stoppage at 2:29 of the first session.

Mayol, ex-5 time Philippine national amateur champ, is regarded as a future world champ due to his devastating power despite his lanky physique.

Co-promoters: Terry Carter and Joe Koizumi.
