WBC #16 KIYA SINKS SAENGCHAREON IN 8

TOKYO, JAPAN-WBC #16 ranked 115-pounder Takuya Kiya(right photo) (19-4-1, 14 KOs), 116.25, sent Thai #9 Saengcharoen Mahasaph Condo (3-5-1, 1 KO), 116, twice before he finally sank the overmatched opponent at 2:01 of the 8th round in Tokyo.

Kiya, previously ranked in the top ten by the WBA and the WBC, had dropped due to his upset defeat by the current WBC super-fly champ Masamori Tokuyama, raised his stock by acquiring the national title, but forfeited it to Shingo Sasaki by a hard-fought decision last year. Kiya, a good boxer-puncher, is gunning for any title again through his fluctuating career.

Undercard:

Upcoming Shunsuke Ito (10-1-1, 7 KOs), 139, continued his KO streak by halting Thailander Chalaamdam Sistyatraditrakam, 139, at 2:50 of the 6th round in a scheduled 8.

KOMATSU FINISHES THAI CHAMP PHISETSH

OSKA, JAPAN-Unbeaten Japanese #3 fly Noriyuki Komatsu (12-0-5, 5 KOs), 115, sent Thai fly champ Phisetsh Voh Suraphol, 114.25, sprawling to the deck, who barely stood up only to fail to beat the count at 1:41 of the 4th round in Osaka.

Komatsufs left hook was a haymaker of the unorthodox Thailander.

Undercard:

Hard-hitting Japanese #4 ranked 140-pounder, Indonesian import Alvarado Ishimaru, 138.25, blasted out Thailander Ramsongkram Suwanharnjabee, 140, by dropping him twice and for the count at 1:17 of the opening canto in a semi-final 10. Alvaradofs campaign here resulted in 4-0, 3 KOs.

Japanese #9 feather Naoto Fujiwara (11-1, 4 KOs), 125.5, decked Kiyomasa Ozeki (8-8-2, 2 KOs), 125.75, in the third, and finally prompted the ref to intervene at 2:58 of the 9th session.
