EX-OPBF INTERIM 130-POUND CHAMP FUJITA WINS MAJORITY NOD OVER JAPANfS #4 TAKABAYASHI

April 21, 2002

KURASHIKI, JAPAN-Unranked ex-OPBF interim 130-pound champ Kazunori Fujita (13-2, 8 KOs), 130(right photo), eked out a majority nod over Japanfs #4 super-feather Hayato Takabayashi (8-2-2, 5 KOs), 129, over 10 in Kurashiki, Japan.

Fujita, a karate instructor as well as a university lecturer, returned to the ring warfare after his annihilation by Filipino lefty Tiger Ari in an unsuccessful bid for the OPBF belt. Takabayshi almost stunned Fujita with a solid left hook to the temple to have him rubbery-legged in the second.

But Fujita, a peek-a-boo stylist, regained his rhythm and took back the initiative to earn a close decision (96-94 twice and 96-96).

Promoter: Kurashiki Moriyasu Promotions.
