TOKYO, JAPAN-Japanese impresario Akihiko Honda of Teiken Promotions today announced a couple of WBC title bouts, which will take place at Ryogoku Sumo Arena in Tokyo on August 24.
WBC top ranked super-feather contender Sirimongkol Singwangcha, Thailand, 37-1, 21 KOs, will face #2 Kengo Nagashima, a Japanese southpaw, 21-1-1, 12 KOs, in a quest for the vacant WBC 130-pound belt recently renounced by Floyd Mayweather.
Also featuring will be a WBC interim super-bantam title go where Oscar Larios, Mexico, 44-3-1, 31 KOs, will take on Japanese prospect Manabu Fukushima, 22-4-1, 16 KOs, with the winner to face the legitimate champ Willie Jorrin within 60 days. Larios seized the interim belt by a 12th-round demolition of Israel Vazquez this May.
A supporting card is a Japanese 130-pound elimination bout for the vacant belt relinquished by Nagashima, as ex-champ Kinji Amano will square off against Nobuhito Honmo, another speedster.
