UNBEATEN IKEHARA STRUGGLES TO EARN A DECISION FROM PHORN

OSAKA, JAPAN-Japanese top super-bantam contender Nobuto Ikehara (15-0, 13 KOs), 121, struggled to earn a close but unanimous decision over a veteran Thailander Phorn Saengmorakot, 120.5, over 10.

Scored: 97-95, 97-92 and 97-93, all for the unbeaten but untested prospect. The fight looked closer than the official verdict indicated. Ikehara kept going forward, while Phorn kept stepping back to counter the willing mixer all the way. Itfs a very tough test for Ikehara.

Japanese top bantam contender Noboru Fukuyama (12-3-1, 9 KOs), 118, scored a TKO win over Loeshsiam Kietkriengkrai, 117.5, after the 5th session as the Thailander retired on the stool.

Japanese #7 feather Hayato Takabayashi unanimously decisioned Tomonori Nakagawa over 10.
