BILL CAYTON BECOMES MANAGER OF AFRICAN PETER OKELLO

July 18, 2002

NEW YORK-Bill Cayton, ex-manager of Mike Tyson, became the manager of WBC #26 ranked OPBF heavyweight champ Peter Okello, a Ugandan previously residing in Japan, as he executed the manager-boxer agreement with the 6f3h 240-pounder at his ESPN Big Fights office today.

Cayton has employed Nettles Nader as an exclusive trainer of Peter who has moved to New York, where he will start living to campaign under Caytonfs management in the States.

Exactly, Cayton became his co-manager along with Toshiro Matsuo of Midori Promotions, Japan, who had cultivated Peter up to the heavyweight belt in the Oriental and Pacific region, where he is undoubtedly unmatched. Peter has no more serious competitions in Asia, so Matsuo asked for Caytonfs co-management. After carefully studying his previous fight tapes, Cayton made up his mind to handle him with his right-hand man Steve Lott.

The gigantic Peter, formerly Ugandan amateur heavyweight champ for five years, came to Japan and turned professional there in 1997. He acquired the OPBF belt by lopsidedly beating Tone Fiso in March, 2001. Peter kept his regional belt twice by dismantling Mosese Kavika (KO2) and Tone Fiso (TKO2).

Peter will start training under his new trainer Nader tomorrow, and make his US debut in September. Cayton promises to make his best effort to prove Peter will be a real deal with his future discipline.
