TOKYO, JAPAN-Kyoei Promotions has announced that Osamu Sato, the newly crowned WBA 122-pound champ, will make his first and mandatory defense against top-ranked Salim Medjkoune, 38-3-1, 20 KOs, a French southpaw, at Yoyogi First Gymnasium, Tokyo, on October 9.
Sato, 26-1-2, 15 KOs and 5 years his junior at 25, captured the WBA belt by an impressive 8th round knockout over previously unbeaten Thailander Yoddamrong Singwangcha on May 18.
