TOKYO, JAPAN-A dual WBC title bout takes place at Ryogoku Sumo Arena, Tokyo, today.
A vacant WBC 130-pound belt, renounced by Floyd Mayweather, will be disputed by #1 Sirimongkol Singwangcha (37-1, 21 KOs), Thailand, and #2 ranked Japanese lefty Kengo Nagashima (21-1-1, 12 KOs). The winner will face #3 Jesus Chavez, Mexico, in his first defense. Both scaled in at the 130-pound limit.
Officials: referee Richard Davis (England), judges Tom Kaczmareck, Hubert Minn and Peter Trematerra (all US).
WBC interim 122-pound champ Oscar Larios (44-3-1, 31 KOs), Mexico, will square off against Japanese challenger Manabu Fukushima (22-4-1, 16 KOs). Each tipped the beam at the 122-pound limit.
