MINORIYAMA UPSET BY HASEGAWA

October 27, 2002

KOBE, JAPAN-WBC #30 ranked bantam prospect Ryuichi Minoriyama (10-4-3, 5 KOs), a Japanese version of Sean OfGrady with his father being the manager & promoter, 119.75, surprisingly dropped a shutout decision (100-91 twice and 100-89) as he hit the deck twice by a southpaw left of unranked and unheralded Hozumi Hasegawa (10-2, 4 KOs), 120.25, over 10 in Kobe, Japan.

Minoriyama, ex-national high school champ, might have been a bit overconfident and careless against the puzzling lefty, whose southpaw stance completely befuddled him.

Promoter: Senrima Kobe Promotions.
