UNBEATEN WBC #3 SUICO DEFENDS OPBF 130-POUND BELT

January 18, 2003

CEBU, PHILIPPINES-Unbeaten KO artist, WBC #3 ranked 130-pounder Randy Suico (18-0, 16 KOs) will make a mandatory defense of his OPBF super-feather belt against unbeaten top contender Jonnie Kim (9-0-2, 8 KOs), a Monglian holding a Korean national title, at Lapu Lapu City, Cebu, Philippines on March 29.

Suico dropped Mexican Juan Carlos Garcia twice en route to an impressive 4th round TKO in Las Vegas last September. The hard-punching Filipino, called Kumong Bato (Stone Hand), will make his first defense since he acquired the OPBF throne by a 6th round stoppage of ex-champ Sungho Yuh, Korea, in Cebu last April.

People are expecting a crowd-pleasing slugfest of the unbeaten hard-hitters, as Suico and Kim are both durable and tough. It will be promoted by influential Cebuano impresario Wakee Salud.
