UNBEATEN KAYOH FINISHES SAKNARONG IN 6

January 20, 2003

TOKYO, JAPAN-Unbeaten Japanese #6 light-fly Munetsugu Kayoh (7-0, 3 KOs), 107.75, ex-WBA 108-pound champ Yoko Gushikenfs pupil, impressively flattened Thailander Saknarong Sor Voraphin (5-3, no KO), 108, with body bombardments at 0:43 of the 6th.

Undercard:

Unbeaten Junichiro Kaneda (7-0, 4 KOs), Japanese #10 minimum, 104.75, decked Wanchana Seepachan, 103.75, three times en route to an automatic stoppage at 1:31 of the opening canto. The first 10-rounder saw unranked Daisuke Yamanaka (8-1, 5 KOs), 122, halt Thailandfs Uten Sor Voraphin, 121.25, at 2:06 of the first session.

Shirai-Gushiken Gym, managed by our first world champ Yoshiro Shirai and Gushiken (who kept his WBA junior fly belt 13 times), had handled ex-amateur champ Akihiko Nago, who unfortunately failed to win the WBA and WBC 115-pound belts, losing a unanimous verdict to Hideki Todaka and Masamori Tokuyama. The once brightest prospect Nago left their management, so Shirai and Gushiken are endeavoring to cultivate young boys so hard that they will produce their own world champ in the near future.

Promoter: Shirai-Gushiken Promotions.
