WBC 122-POUND CHAMP LARIOS DEFENDS AGAINST NAKAZATO IN TOKYO

March 8, 2003

TOKYO, JAPAN-WBC 115-pound champ Masamori Tokuyama will defend his super-fly bet against hard-hitting compatriot Katsushige Kawashima at the Yokohama Arena, Yokohama City, Japan on June 23.

It was announced by the promoter Hideyuki Ohashi, the promoter/manager of Kawashima as well as ex-WBC and WBA 105-pound champ, with both boxers in attendance at the Korakuen Chinese Restaurant.

Tokuyama, 28-2-1, 8 KOs, is making his 7th defense as he previously defeated top contender Gerry Panalosa on points last December. Kawashima, who lately renounced his Japanese national belt to prepare for this title crack, compiled a fine mark of 23-2, 16 KOs, including an important victory over ex-WBA ruler Yokthai Sith-Oar in August 2001. It will be a highly expected encounter of our outstanding 115-pounders.
