WBC #9 KOMATSU IMPRESSIVELY KEEPS OPBF FLY BELT

OSAKA, JAPAN-Unbeaten WBC #9 ranked flyweight Noriyuki Komatsu, 112, impressively kept his OPBF 112-pound belt as he displayed crisp punching, dropped ex-Thai champ Phanomdetch Auyudhnakorn, 111.5, in the first and third, and finally halted him with a flurry of punches with the refereefs intervention at 1:39 of the 5th round in Osaka, Japan on Monday.

Komatsu, 16-0-5, 8 KOs, recently gained punching power and scored a couple of defenses within the distance since he acquired the vacant OPBF title by defeating Korean Jungoh Son last September. The game Thailander, 26-12, 9 KOs, showed his fighting spirit and won the praise of the audience. The fighting champ will make his next defense in August, as announced by his promoter/manager Eijiro Murata, formerly world top bantam contender who drew with Lupe Pintor and Jeff Chandler.

Undercard:

WBC #3 ranked 122-pounder Nadel Hussein (30-1, 17 KOs), 127, showed his superior power and skills in disposing of Japanese switch-hitter Nobunaga Satsuma (7-5-1, 4 KOs), 127.5, at 1:32 of the second session. This bout was sponsored by a Japanese TV program named Tiger of Money, which invested on an ambitious youngster fighting a dream bout against a world contender. But his dream was demolished by the much stronger Hussein cornered by Jeff Fenech.
