WBC #3 SUICO ONESIDEDLY BEATS FUJITA

June 21, 2003

TOKYO, JAPAN-Unbeaten WBC #3 and WBA #7 ranked OPBF 130-pound champ Randy Suico, 131.5, impressively ran his unblemished mark to 20-0, 17 KOs as he battered ex-OPBF interim champ Kazunori Fujita (16-4, 8 KOs), 132, Japan, from all angles and badly punished him with a flurry of punches en route to a lopsided decision (99-93 twice and 98-93) over 10 heats on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan.

The taller Filipino controlled the fight all the way, though he had his right hand hurt as he hit the head of the slower willing mixer midway in the second. Suico had him at bay in the 8th, but Fujita, a karate master, withstood his fierce assault only with his pride and gameness. It turned out afterwards that Fujita had the eardrum broken with his absorption of Suicofs numerous shots.

Undercard:

Japanese #3 light fly Makoto Miyagi (13-2-1, 6 KOs) demolished Thai #2 minimum Paranchai Sor Woraphin (14-8, 2 KOs) in the 4th. Ex-amateur super-welter champ Takuji Matsuhashi (4-1, 4 KOs) halted Korean Jooyoung Lee (3-3-1, 2 KOs) in one. Feather prospect Yuta Nagai (10-1-1, 7 KOs) was held to a draw by Shusaku Torikai (6-4, 1 KO) over 8.
