HIROSHIMA, JAPAN-WBA #9 ranked elongated southpaw Genki Ohnaka (13-2-1, 6 KOs), 104.25, acquired the vacant OPBF 105-pound belt as he utilized his superior height and reach by outlegging and outpunching OPBF top ranked Kimoon Nah (7-5-1, 5 KOs), 104.75, to win a unanimous decision (118-112, 118-111, and 119-111) over 12 fast rounds on Tuesday in Hiroshima, Japan.
It was an encounter of southpaws, but their difference of height was too obvious. The 5f6h lanky 105-pounder kept moving to-and-fro to frustrate the hard-hitting Korean, constantly outjabbing him to pile up points steadily. The regional title had been renounced by Korean Jaewon Kim, who outgrew the 105-pound division after his last defense on a disputed draw with Kimoon Nah, the Korean national champ, last year.
Kazuyuki Matsumiya (8-4-1, 2 KOs), 139.75, floored Thailander Betarun Worsuraphin (reportedly 13-5, 3 KOs), 139, each twice in the 4th and 5th, stopping him at 1:38 of the 5th session. Unbeaten local prospect Daigo Nakahiro (8-0, 1 KO), 114.75, displayed his much busier hands in copping a shutout nod over Katsuhiko Yamada (5-5-2, 2 KOs), 114.25, over 8.
