WBC #6 LIGHT NAGASHIMA BEATS THAI CHAMP

KOGA, JAPAN-Slick-punching lefty, WBC #6 ranked lightweight Kengo Nagashima (24-2-1, 14 KOs), 137, pounded out a shutout decision (all 100-90) over Thai national champ Kongdhorani Poh Surasak (7-6, 4 KOs), 137, over 10 lopsided rounds on Sunday afternoon in Koga, Japan.

Itfs Nagashimafs first appearance in his home turf in six years. Having failed to win the vacant WBC 130-pound belt via second round demolition by Sirimongkol Singwangcha last year, the southpaw footworker scored three victories straight since. Kongdhorani proved his chin was made of stone despite absorbing much punishment.

Undercard:

Tricky ex-amateur boy Yukio Sekiguchi (7-1, 2 KOs), 124.5, easily outscored Seiji Funami (6-5-3, 2 KOs), 123.5, over 8.

WBA #15 MINIMUM MATSUMOTO STOPS SAMURANSAK

KOKURA, JAPAN-WBA #15 ranked 105-pounder Hiroshi Matsumoto (15-3-3, 7 KOs), 105, hotly traded rallies with ex-Thai champ Samuransak Singhmanasak (24-8, 21 KOs), 105.25, and finally stopped him by pinning him to the ropes with a barrage of punches at 1:23 of the 10th and final session on Sundy afternoon in Kokura, Japan. Before the stoppage, the official tallies were: 88-83, 89-84 and 88-84, all for the busy southpaw winner.

More aggressive Hiroshi Okamoto (8-1, 6 KOs), 120, scored a TKO win over Kazuyoshi Niki (9-3, 3 KOs), 120.25, with the towel thrown in at 0:48 of the 10th and final canto.
