TOKYO, JAPAN-In a main event of a quadruple 10-round card, unbeaten Japanese top feather contender Hiroyuki Enoki, 126, ran his mark to 17-0-1, 13 KOs when he battered Goji Mukai (13-5-1, 6 KOs), 126, with solid combinations en route to a well-timed stoppage at 1:06 of the fifth round on Saturday night in Tokyo, Japan. Enoki is gunning for OPBF top ranked Japanese national champ Dainoshin Kuma in a forthcoming mandatory title go.
Japanese #6 light Kazuki Kubota (13-5, 3 KOs), 135, weathered a storm of #2 ranked Takashi Ijichi (5-3-1, 3 KOs), 135, ex-amateur champ, in the first four rounds and mixed it up in the close quarter from the fifth on to earn a hairline majority decision (97-96 twice and 98-98) over 10. Ijichi looked to have run out of gas in the middle of the contest, and Kubota overcame his early deficit on points.
Japanese #7 light Yoshinari Hayamizu (16-3-2, 3 KOs), 137.5, utilized his faster jabs and left-right combos in the first half, and outpunched Shoheita Nakamura (9-5-2, 4 KOs), 137.75, in the close range in the second half to win a unanimous nod (99-93, 99-92 and 99-91) over 10.
Japanese #6 ranked 130-pounder Tetsuya Shinozaki (16-11-7, 7 KOs), 130, displayed faster combinations with precision and withstood the desperate retaliations of #9 ranked prospect Shinzo Motoyoshi (10-2, 7 KOs), 130, in scoring a close majority verdict (97-96 twice and 96-96) over 10.
