OSAKA, JAPAN-WBC #10 ranked 122-pounder, busy-punching Akihiro Kanai (19-1, 16 KOs), 123.5, demolished overmatched Yugo Tsuboi (5-6-5, no KO), 123, by dropping him twice en route to a fine KO win at 2:38 of the third session on Saturday night in Osaka, Japan.
Kanai, a conqueror of the current WBO 118-pound champ Cruz Carbajal in 2000, suffered his sole defeat at the hand of Korean Yongin Cho via first round KO in his bid for the OPBF 122-pound belt in 2001. Since then Kanai remained unbeaten, and will have a shot at the Japanese national title against newly crowned Yoshikane Nakajima in Tokyo this November.
