NAGOYA, JAPAN-WBC superbantam champ Oscar Larios (49-3-1, 34 KOs) tipped the beam at 121.75 pounds, and Japanese challenger Kozo Ishii (31-3, 21 KOs)(right photo) scaled at the 122-pound class limit. Both looked in such good shape that we expect their hot and competitive battle tomorrow at the Rainbow Hall in Nagoya, the third biggest city in Japan.
The WBC officials are as follows: referee Richie Davies (England), judges Chuck Hassett (US), Julie Lederman (US) and Franz Marti (Thailand). The WBC supervisor is Frank Quill, the OPBF president.
WBC #4 ranked welter Hiroshi Watanabe will defend his OPBF regional belt against Dondon Sultan, Filipino champ, over twelve rounds. This card is promoted by Takao Maruki, ex-world challenger against Samuel Serrano in his native Nagoya some 30 years ago.
