KANAI RUNS TO 11-0, 11 KOs

HIMEJI, JAPAN-Unbeaten Akinori Kanai, 128, ran his unblemished mark to 11-0, 11 KOs as he blasted out Filipino Boy Guevarra, 126.25, at 0:45 into the second round on Sunday in Himeji, Japan. The tall hard-puncher had won the final in the annual national Novice King tournaments (competitions of all 4-round green boys) in the feather division last December to be ranked at the end of the Japanese ratings.

Undercard:

Bantam prospect Masayuki Mitani, 118, outscored Hiroyasu Hasegawa, 117.5, over ten.

TANAKA STOPS KHANCHIT

OSAKA, JAPAN-Lefty Seiji Tanaka (13-6-3, 3 KOs), 118, floored Thailander Khannchit Kiatgeija, 117.5, three times en route to an automatic stoppage at 1:32 of the second session on Sunday night in Osaka, Japan. Tanaka, a stablemate of the current WBC 115-pound champ Masamori Tokuyama, previously went to Hawaii and lost to ex-WBC champ Gerry Penalosa via a TKO route in the Filipinofs tune-up bout prior to his rematch with Tokuyama last year.

Nobukazu Hirose, 148, scored a quick KO win over Takashi Kashiwagi, 144, at 2:57 of the opening session.
