CEBU, PHILIPPINES-Unbeaten WBC #2 ranked 130-pounder Randy Suico (20-0, 17 KOs), a hard-punching Filipino prospect, will defend his OPBF belt against Korean top contender Seungwon Baek in Cebu, Philippines on December 21. The last WBC convention in Moscow decided that Suico would face #1 Mzonke Fana, South Africa, in an eliminator to decide the official challenger to the ultimate winner of the forthcoming confrontation of the current WBC champ Jesus Chavez and WBC feather champ emeritus Eric Morales. For Suico, this will be his tune-up go prior to his encounter with the WBC international champ Fana. It will be a doubleheader promoted by Rex Wakee Salud, the most influential impresario in Cebu. In another OPBF title tilt, Pedrito Laurente, Manila, will put his 122-pound belt against top contender and Philippine national champ Jimrex Jaca, Cebu, over 12 rounds. It is rare to see a dual OPBF title promotion in the Philippines, and many aficionados will certainly pay great attentions to the competitive title bouts.
