KOJIMA WHIPS IMAMIYA

October 28, 2003

TOKYO, JAPAN-Japanese #3 ranked flyweight Takeyuki Kojima (11-2-3, 5 KOs), 111.75, had a tough time coping with the opening attack of unrated Yusuke Imamiya (9-7, 3 KOs), 111.75, but started his engine to land effective overhand rights to take back the initiative, winning a unanimous decision (98-94 twice and 98-95) over ten rounds on Tuesday night in Tokyo, Japan. The loser, however, surprisingly showed his desperate retaliation to make the winner temporarily groggy in the final stanza. WBC #10 ranked OPBF middle champ Sam Soliman, Australia, was in attendance, as he arrived here last Saturday to make his final workout prior to his first defense with formerly WBA #10 ranked ex-Japanese national champ Satoru Suzuki this coming Saturday.

Promoter: Kikuchi Promotions.
