TOKYO, JAPAN-Unbeaten 115-pound KO artist Daisuke Maruyama (14-0, 13 KOs), 116, from Kyushu, made his first appearance at Korakuen Hall and failed to continue his KO streak but scored a lopsided decision over Thailander Petchkhlongphai Soh Dharnthip (reportedly 6-2, 1 KO), 114.5, over ten heats on Wednesday night in Tokyo, Japan.
Fight fans here witnessed the sensational hard-puncher for the first time, and admired his impressive power-punching and abundant stamina despite his failure to finish his opponent. Maruyama, 24, registered nine first-round KOs from his pro debut in 1999, and kept his streak up to 13. The hard-hitter almost finished the affair in the end of the seventh, when he battered the Thailander to the punch to make him take a standing count.
Up-and-coming Yukio Wadamine (13-2-1, 10 KOs), 109.75, decked Thailander Choksombat Sindonthai (3-1, 2 KOs), 109, twice and embalmed him with a vicious body shot at 2:37 of the second round in a scheduled ten. Wadamine looked promising.
