UNO POLISHES OFF THAILANDER IN ONE

November 24, 2003

GIFU, JAPAN-Japanese #5 ranked bantam Sunao Uno (13-3-2, 9 KOs), 117.5, appeared for the first time since his unsuccessful crack at the OPBF 118-pound belt against WBC #4 ranked Hozumi Hasegawa, and scored a quick KO win over Saengcharoen Au Suwannasilp (8-12-1, 2 KOs), 117.5, Thailand, at 2:51 of the opening session in a scheduled ten on Monday afternoon in Gifu, Japan. The Thailander made a good start, and it became a furious exchange of hot rallies with Uno knocking him half out of the ropes for the count. Uno is gunning for a shot at either the OPBF title again or the national belt.

Undercard:

Japanese #4 ranked flyweight Yusuke Morishima (14-2-4, 3 KOs), 114.75, sustained an injured right hand midway in the fifth, but pounded out a nearly shutout decision (100-92, and 99-92 twice) over ex-Thai national champ Phanomdetch Au Yudhanakorn (21-10, 6 KOs), 114.75, over ten.

Unbeaten hard-hitting prospect Akio Konishi (7-0, 6 KOs), 116.5, sank Jakree Twins-Gym (3-5, 1 KO), 115, Thailand, with a wicked body shot at 3:05 of the first round in a scheduled eight. With more flexibility Konishi will be a good attraction with his hard-punching ability.

Ryohei Hagimori (9-2-1, 4 KOs), 127.25, landed a heavy right to the midsection of Thailander Wanchana Chuwatana (8-8, 7 KOs), 128, finishing him at 1:40 of the fifth session in a scheduled eight.

Promoter: Gifu Yokozeki Promotions.

Matchmaker: Joe Koizumi.
