KARATE KID KAMEDA MAKES PRO DEBUT

December 21, 2003

OSAKA, JAPAN-Sensational rookie Kohki Kameda, 111.75, made his successful pro debut as he swarmed over Thailander Dennarong Sishsobha (7-4, 3 KOs), 111.5, from the outset and demolished him just 44 seconds into the opening session in a six-round main event on Sunday night in Osaka, Japan.

Kameda started his karate career at the age of four, and became the world karate junior champ at eleven. He turned to the international style boxing afterward, and won the national amateur tourney at sixteen. The 17-year-old prospect Kameda, whose amateur mark was 15-1, 11 stoppages, is an aggressive southpaw puncher, who declares, gIfll be a world champ before I become twenty.h As his younger brothers Daiki, 14, and Kazuki, 11, are also vastly talented, though still amateur, the three Kamedas may produce a great sensation in the near future. Kamedafs debut gathered a packed-house crowd at Osaka Central Gymnasium.

Undercard:

Japanese #3 minimum Katsunari Takayama (11-1, 6 KOs), 106.75, sent Thailander Suming Twins-Gym sprawling to the deck twice and stopped him at 1:23 of the third round in a scheduled six. It was Takayamafs first appearance since his unsuccessful crack at the national 108-pound belt against Masato Hatakeyama, and he moved down to the 105-pound division thereafter.
