OSAKA, JAPAN-Takashi Fushiki (7-4-2, 1 KO), 146.5, an active producer of Yomiuri Television, appeared in his final fight, but lost a unanimous decision (99-91, 98-92 and 97-94) to Japanese #8 ranked superlight Kiyoshi Adachi (22-7-2, 14 KOs), 142.25, over ten rounds on Friday night in Osaka, Japan. The Japanese commission has a strict guideline that should a boxer reach 37 years of age he shall not be allowed to fight professionally unless he is (or was) a champion of the world, Japan or the OPBF. The welterweight Fushiki, who will celebrate his 37th birthday this coming August, will be obliged to renounce his license to the JBC after this final showing.

In the main event, Japanese #2 light contender Takehiko Toki (10-1, 7 KOs), 135.25, the son of ex-Oriental 130-pound champ Apollo Yoshio, flattened Thailander Khomphayak Kiatsinghnoy (4-2, 3 KOs), 133.75, with a solid straight right followed by a left hook at 1:06 of the second round. His father Yoshio Toki, the promoter of this card, previously failed to win the world 130-pound belt twice as he lost a close but unanimous 15-round decision (70-68, 71-69 and 74-71) to Mexican Ricardo Arredondo in a bid for the WBC belt in 1973and fought to a split draw with Filipino Ben Villaflor for the same throne next year. Will his son follow Apollofs footstep and surpass his father?
