KANAI RUNS TO 13-0, 13 KOs

OSAKA, JAPAN-Unbeaten Japanese #4 ranked feather prospect Akinori Kanai, 128, extended his KO streak to 13-0, 13 KOs as he blasted out Filipino #9 superbantam Roberto Oyan (13-8-4, 5 KOs), 126.5, with a vicious shot to the belly, sending him sprawling to the deck for the count at 1:20 of the opening session in a scheduled ten on Sunday afternoon in Osaka, Japan. Kanai, a tall hard-puncher, won the national Novice King 4-round tournaments in 2002, and has kept running his unbeaten mark.

Undercard:

Noboru Fukuyama (14-5-1, 11 KOs), 118, caught Thailander Daochai KT Gym (5-7, 1 KO), 118, with busy combinations and floored him twice before the refereefs stoppage at 2:44 of the third round in a supporting ten. Nobuto Ikehara (19-1, 16 KOs), 122, polished off Thai #9 ranked 115-pounder Detchsiam Loogphodam (8-11, 4 KOs), 121.5, with a shot to the solar plexus at 1:52 of the opening round in a ten. Ex-OPBF welter challenger Kenji Go (10-6-1, 8 KOs), 153.5, finished Masahiro Muroya (6-3-1, 5 KOs), 153.75, at 1:24 of the second round in a scheduled eight.
