MARUYAMA DEFEATS THAILANDER SAICHOL

YUKUHASHI, JAPAN-Unbeaten but untested Japanese #8 ranked 115-pounder Daisuke Maruyama (16-0, 13 KOs), 115, had a tough time coping with furious retaliations of Thai #3 bantam Saichol Au Uuensuwan (7-8, 3 KOs), 115, but earned a unanimous decision (98-95, 97-93 and 98-92) over ten heats on Sunday afternoon in Yukuhashi City, Japan. Maruyama had scored 13 KO wins straight over mediocre opponents since his pro debut, but he thus failed to score an expected KO victory in his last three bouts against Thai contenders. Maruyama, in the second, was battered to the punch to be saved by the bell, but regained his initiative from the third round on despite the Thailanderfs admirable revenging rallies.

Undercard:

Japanese #3 ranked 108-pounder Yukio Wadamine (15-2-1, 11 KOs), 108, was awarded a unanimous technical decision (69-64, 69-65 and 70-64) over Thai #8 lightfly Cheaowchan Dhanaswate (7-8-1, 1 KO), 108, due to the winnerfs bad gash over the lefty optic at the end of the seventh session in a scheduled ten.

MINORIYAMA BEATS FILIPINO TRIBO

AKASHI, JAPAN-Japanese #4 bantam Ryuichi Minoriyama (15-5-3, 6 KOs), 119.75, pounded out a unanimous decision over ex-Philippine 122-pound champ Reynaldo Tribo (7-1, 4 KOs), 119.25, over ten frames on Sunday afternoon in Akashi City, Japan. Minoryama, the promoterfs son, controlled the fight except in middle rounds when Tribo scored roundhouse punches to have him retreating. Minoriyama, however, utilized his superior speed in piling up more points in later rounds.

Undercard:

Filipino Pedro Marco, 127.5, proved too powerful and aggressive for Akira Ebisuoka (25-10-2, 8 KOs), 127,75, Japan, retiring him after the seventh session in a scheduled ten. Another Filipino victor was Rey Bautista (10-0, 7 KOs), 115.5, who also stopped Hirokazu Yamazaki (10-11-4, 3 KOs), 115.75, at the end of the third session in the first ten. Bautista was an aggressor from the outset, battering the Japanese from all angles.
