TOKYO, JAPAN-Fast-rising Japanese light prospect Shunsuke Ito (16-2-1, 12 KOs), 135.75, scored a fine KO victory over Akinori Suzuki (8-4-2, 2 KOs), 135, at 2:45 of the seventh round, as Ito sent his rival to the deck in the third, withstood Suzukifs retaliation and finally sank him with a countering right for the count on Friday night in Tokyo, Japan. The Japanese #4 ranked Ito was penalized a point for having hit the opponent on the deck in the third after he floored Suzuki in the third.
Hard-punching Takao Onda (13-2, 11 KOs), 149.5, came off the canvas and scored a come-from-behind knockout of Thailander Lamsongkhram Suanaharnjavee (5-8, 1 KO), 147.75, with a wicked body shot at 3:00 of the opening session. Regarded as a future champ, ex-amateur star and bright prospect Tomonobu Shimizu (1-1, 1 KO), 111.5, surprisingly suffered an upset TKO defeat at the hand of Thai #3 light fly Kaennakorn Klongpajol (7-4, 2 KOs), 111.75, at 2:05 of the opening session in his second pro bout, as he took a vicious right counter when he threw a left-right combo, hit the deck and then absorbed much punishment to prompt the referee fs intervention.
