CEBU, PHILIPPINES-WBC #2 ranked OPBF 130-pound champ Randy Suico (22-1, 19 KOs), 130, successfully kept his regional belt as he floored Indonesian ruler Ibrahim Aroby (14-2-1, 7 KOs), 130, in the second and finally exploded a devastating right to demolish him at 1:04 of the eighth round on Saturday in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu Island, Philippines.
Suico caught the elongated Indonesian with a short left hook, flooring him in the corner midway in the second. The Filipino, in the third, had the challenger touch the canvas with his glove when landing an overhand right, but the ref waived it to make the fight go on. Ibrahaim showed his fine recovery and threw light but sharp punches to the nervous champ who looked too eager to finish the affair in the fourth and fifth. Suico, however, began to throw left jabs smoothly from the sixth on, and found his range with his left hand. The eighth saw Suico land a wicked straight right to the button, dropping Ibrahim to the deck with a thud. The flattened Indonesian barely stood up at the count of nine, but so badly wobbled that the third man Kazumasa Kuwata, Japan, tolled the fatal ten. Scored after the seventh: 70-62, 68-64 and 67-65, all for the defending champ.
