OSAKA, JAPAN-Newly crowned WBC 105-pound champ Isaac Bustos (24-6-3, 13 KOs), Mexico, will put his belt on the line against up-and-coming Japanese Katsunari Takayama (14-1, 7 KOs) in Osaka on April 4. Bustos fortunately captured the WBC title because of the defending champ Eagle Kyowafs abrupt shoulder injury which resulted in the Mexicanfs unexpected fourth-round TKO victory on December 18. Takayama, a fast-moving speedster, lately defeated Filipino and Thai national champs Elmer Gejon and Namchai Taksin-isan in succession to move up in the WBC ratings. The winner of this title bout is to risk his belt against former champ Eagle Kyowa due to the option agreement.
On the undercard, OPBF 105-pound champ Rodel Mayol (20-0, 16 KOs), Philippines, will face Japanese challenger Takayuki Korogi (13-4-3, 4 KOs) with his regional title at stake over twelve rounds.
