BAKTIN KEEPS JAPANESE BANTAM BELT

February 21, 2005

TOKYO, JAPAN-Unbeaten WBC #16 ranked Japanese bantam champ Sasha Baktin (13-0, 5 KOs), 118, proved too sharp, fast and ringwise for top ranked Ryuichi Minoriyama (18-6-3, 7 KOs), 117.25, winning a shutout decision (100-90 twice and 100-91) to retain his national title over ten heats on Monday in Tokyo, Japan. Sasha, a lanky Russian living in Japan, made good use of his superior height and longer reach in outjabbing and outpunching the game Japanese challenger all night. Itfs their third encounter, but Sasha showed his improvement and superiority again, despite his lack of convincing power, in decisively beating the OPBF #4 ranked contender.

Unbeaten flyweight prospect Koki Kameda (6-0, 5 KOs), 112, from Osaka, appeared here in Tokyo for the first time, and needed just 130 seconds of the opening session to demolish Thailander Yodkeng Singwangcha (6-5, 2 KOs), 111, in a supporting ten. The southpaw Kameda, only 18, landed solid shots to sink him for the count.

Promoter: Kyoei Promotions.
