TOKYO, JAPAN-WBA #4 ranked 105-pounder Jaewon Kim (19-1-2, 6 KOs), Korea, arrived in Tokyo, Japan today (Saturday) prior to his ambitious crack at the WBA minimumweight belt against Japanese defending champ Yutaka Niida (17-1-3, 8 KOs) here on this coming Saturday. Kim, unbeaten in last eight years, once captured the OPBF 105-pound belt by outhustling Hiroshi Nakajima in April 2002. Kim, as young as the defending champ at 26, boasts of his abundant stamina and great durability, but Niida is regarded as superior in terms of power punching and speed. It will be the main event of a twinbill, promoted by Akihiko Hondafs Teiken Promotions, along with the WBC bantam title go between Veeraphol Nakhornluang-Promotion and Hozumi Hasegawa.
