TOKYO, JAPAN-WBC #18 ranked Crazy Kim (AKA Toshiharu Kaneyama; 22-3, 19 KOs), 153.5, kept his Japanese national 154-pound belt as he dropped formerly three-time champ Hiroyuki Maeda (29-8-2, 18 KOs), 153.5, four times en route to a fine stoppage at 0:50 of the second round on Tuesday in Tokyo, Japan. Maeda, ex-national light, superlight and welter champ, attempted to win his fourth belt in as many divisions, but their difference of physique was so apparent that Kim easily overpowered the lanky challenger with vicious overhand rights, dropping him twice in the first session. Maeda was quite groggy with the bell sounding to his rescue. The champ, in the second, swarmed over the fading foe with a flurry of punches and sent him sprawling to the deck twice more to prompt the refereefs intervention. Kimfs OPBF title wasnft at stake but only his national belt was, though itfs a confrontation between the OPBF ruler and the OPBF top contender.
WBC #12 light Takehiro Shimada (16-3-1, 9 KOs), 138.75, easily dispatched overmatched Thai #9 ranked 140-pounder Chainarayana Easusamphandh (reportedly 5-6, 2 KOs), 137.25, at 0:29 of the second round in a scheduled ten. Thai #3 bantam Saengsak Singmanasak (reportedly 13-10, 6 KOs), 117.25, was awarded a TKO victory over Japanese top 115-pound contender Yasutomo Yuki (15-4-5, 3 KOs), 117.5, at the end of the fifth round because of Yukifs too bad bleeding from the inside of the mouth in a scheduled eight.
