TOKYO, JAPAN-Ex-OPBF middle champ Naotaka Hozumi (25-4-1, 21 KOs), 162.5, was awarded a technical decision (49-47, 49-46 and 50-47) over Japanese #4 contender Eiji Nakamura (10-7-5, 3 KOs), 162, because of the loserfs bad lacerations caused by repeated butts at 1:21 of the fifth round on Wednesday in Tokyo, Japan. Hozumi, who had an unsuccessful crack at the WBA belt against William Joppy only to be annihilated into a tenth-round TKO defeat in 2002, has been so inactive that he was dropped even out of the national top ten. Hozumi made an opening attack to pile up points, though Nakamura retaliated with light but good one-two combos. This victory will put the 31-year-old Hozumi back to the national ratings next month.
Unbeaten Japanese top welter contender Yuji Yamaguchi (12-0-1, 8 KOs), 146.75, scored a one-punch KO over Thailander Detchrith Worsurapol (reportedly 6-4, 2 KOs), 144.5, at 1:26 of the first round in a scheduled eight.
