TOKYO, JAPAN-Up-and-coming hard-puncher, Japanese #3 ranked Shunsuke Ito (18-2-1, 13 KOs), 136.25, easily disposed of Thai #8 ranked 130-pounder Klachana Jockygym (3-8, 1 KO), 135, with a solid left hook following vicious body shots at 1:18 of the fourth round on Wednesday in Tokyo, Japan. Ito will have a mandatory shot at the newly crowned national champ Kazuki Kubota in his first defense, and Ito will be a prohibitive favorite, if materialized.
Unheralded and unraked Toshiki Ogawa (10-4-2, 5 KOs), 105.25, upset Japanese #4 ranked 108-pounder Hidekazu Miyagi (13-4-2, 6 KOs), 105.5, by halting him with a flurry of punches at 1:04 of the sixth session in a scheduled eight.

TOKYO, JAPAN-Japanese #2 ranked Kazuki Kubota (15-5-2, 3 KOs), 135, acquired the vacant Japanese lightweight belt as he eked out a close but unanimous decision (96-95, 97-96 and 97-94) over top ranked Kokichi Tanaka (23-9-1, 11 KOs), 135, over ten on Monday in Tokyo, Japan. The national throne had been renounced by ex-champ Takefumi Shimada, and they once fought in a quest for the vacant title only to a draw, so their rematch took place to decide the new 135-pound champ.

TOKYO, JAPAN-WBA #7 ranked bantam Manabu Fukushima (28-6-2, 19 KOs), 118, floored Filipino Tata Polinar (8-16-1, 2 KOs), 117.25, in every round and finally demolished him with a wicked body shot at 1:46 of the third session on Saturday (June 4) in Tokyo, Japan. Originally scheduled to fight Wladimir Sidorenko for the WBA bantam belt on this day, Fukushima was forced to accept a postponement caused by the champfs thumb fracture just two weeks before, and decked this tune-up go with an impressive stoppage.
