KAMEDA CHALLENGES OPBF FLY CHAMP WANMEECHOK ON AUG. 21

July 23, 2005

TOKYO, JAPAN-Unbeaten sensational flyweight prospect Koki Kameda (7-0, 6 KOs) will have an ambitious shot at the OPBF flyweight belt against newly crowned Thailander Wanmeechok Singwangcha in Yokohama, Japan, on August 21. The southpaw Thailander acquired the vacant OPBF 112-pound throne by winning a unanimous decision over Japanese lefty Nobuyuki Enomoto in Thailand last June. Having dispatched ex-WBC 108-pound champ Saman Sorjaturong, Thailand, in the first session last month, Kameda will challenge the short but busy-punching champ though people criticize his too early shot at the OPBF title. The flamboyant big mouth Kameda, also a southpaw, is now strenuously training at the Kyoei Gym in Tokyo, sparring with WBC top 115-pound contender Jose Navarro this week. Navarro responded to an invitation of Kyoei Promotions to publicize Kamedafs workout in Tokyo, though the 18-year-old sensation is based in Osaka.
