KAMEDA CHALLENGES OPBF CHAMP WANMEE

August 19, 2005

TOKYO, JAPAN-Unbeaten Japanese flyweight sensation, OPBF #10 ranked Koki Kameda (7-0, 6 KOs) will make an ambitious crack at the OPBF 112-pound belt against Thailandfs Wanmee Choksingwangcha in Yokohama, Japan, on this coming Sunday. The 18-year-old Kamda, a flamboyant big mouth, is now one of the most famous and expected boxers here. The Japanese southpaw dropped ex-WBC champ Saman Sorjaturong three times en route to an automatic stoppage in the first round to his credit last June. Wanmee is a puzzling footworker who recently captured the vacant regional belt (vacated by Australian Hussein Hussein) by outscoring Japanese Nobuyuki Enomoto in his native Thailand this June.

Also, on the same day in Amagasaki, Japan, WBC #10 ranked 108-pounder Francisco Rosas, a tough and durable Mexican, will make his second appearance here as he squares off against #13 Ken Nakajima in a good match. Rosas displayed his tremendous stamina and resilience in overpowering local prospect Junichi Ebisuoka in Osaka this year. Nakajima, who unanimously defeated then WBC international ruler Ruben de la Cruz in his last bout to be raised in the WBC ratings, is a clever and fast boxer-puncher, so it will be a highly competitive contest.
