NAKAJIMA DEFEATS WBC#8 ROSAS

August 21, 2005

AMAGASAKI, JAPAN-Up-and-coming WBC#13 ranked 108-pounder Ken Nakajima (14-2, 8 KOs), 110.25, came off the canvas from a flash knockdown in the third, gamely mixed it up and earned a hard-fought decision over WBC#8 Mexican Francisco Rosas (21-4-1, 12 KOs), 109.75, over ten heats on Sunday in Amagasaki, Japan. It was a total war, as they exchanged all what they had toe-to-toe from the outset to the end. The short but stocky Mexican was aggressive enough to floor the Japanese prospect with a well-timed right in the third, but Nakajima, who had unanimously beaten then WBC international champ Ruben de la Cruz in his last bout, swapped hot rallies with the Mexican swinger. Ruben Lira, Rosasfs manager, angrily protested against the verdict, crying gWe wuz robbed.h

Japanese #3 welter Yoshinori Takenaka, 152.75, made short work of Thailander Wat Por Putinan, 147.25, finishing him at 0:50 of the second round in a scheduled ten.

Promoter: Green Tsuda Promotions.

Matchmaker: Joe Koizumi (as for the Rosas-Nakajima bout).
